Power
The power supplier is the recipient of numerous national and international awards and also recognized for providing one of the most stable grids in North America. Located in physical proximity to major financial institutions, the data center is on the most stable power grid in the municipality. The continuous, conditioned power is backed by an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) with an automatic onsite diesel generator, dual fuel tanks, and priority emergency refueling contracts. A comprehensive DC power plant provides DC power with a 2+hour battery plant.
HVAC and Environmental Controls
The data center uses a forced-air design HVAC for massive air handling besides chilling, as designed by McKinstry for many leading centers. Multiple 20-ton units on neighboring rooftop are powered by the generator-backed power feed. The environment is also monitored electronically in the 24x7 Network Operations Center to assure inside temperatures are kept between 68-70 (+/-2) degrees Fahrenheit and humidity is maintained at 45% (+/- 5%).
Security and Access
Security is provided by continuous video surveillance and recording, access is controlled and recorded through a controlled access system, and everything is monitored by on-site personnel in the 24x7 Network Operations Center (NOC). Video surveillance alerts the NOC to anyone approaching the facility itself. The unique four-entry point system is a combination of card readers, cameras, 24x7 staffing and personnel ID checks.
Fire Detection and Suppression
Zoned ionized air sampling provides the earliest possible level of fire detection. This allows a 24x7 immediate response with gas-based fire suppression. Later stage fire suppression is provided by a dry pipe, pre-action system, with heads that are zoned and independent of the other heads.
On-Site Support
The Network Operations Center (NOC) utilizes 24x7 monitoring and surveillance of facilities, equipment and the data center area. Technical support personnel are available on-site 24x7.
Internet Connectivity
The network features multiple upstream providers, running BGP4 for redundancy and reliability. The up-streams are provided on separate loops with separate data center entrance points, and terminate on separate gateway routers. The gateways are connected to two core switches through redundant uplinks, as are the aggregation routers, for the ultimate level of redundancy and reliability.
Full Encryption Security The Mobile Data Protection system ensures that all backed up data is fully encrypted so no one other than the owner can decrypt and recover the data. The data is encrypted two ways:
1. All remote backup communication between the device and the system is encrypted with secure 128-bit SSL communication
